Future Author

Anyone who knows Alexis is aware of her ambition to be a famous author (look out JK Rowling!!) She has decided that she wants to get "published" ASAP. Tonight she worked and worked on a story she is writing for an entry into a PBS contest. She is also working on an article for The Friend about her experience being baptized in Ohio without family near. She is so determined and is such an amazing writer!






I know, I know...I can't get enough pics of Brylee sleeping! I am just THOROUGHLY enjoying every moment with her. She is such a mellow baby and so much fun! Sweet, sweet baby.

Turned my back for one minute...

Turned my back for one minute today while everyone was eating lunch and this is what happens to Brylee...



E and Jordan thought they were HILARIOUS. Brylee thought it was pretty funny too. She ended up shaking the maraca most of the day! I love that she has big kids to entertain her.

In other news....

Ethan went to his new karate class today and is loving it!! He spars all the other kids and he is (by far) the smallest and youngest there....but he is SO tough! He isn't afraid of anyone and jumps right in. So proud of him!

Put your booty in the air...

Brylee is feeling so much better and really enjoyed her nap today. I love when babies sleep with their tooshies in the air and had to snap a pic!

Weekend News: Valentine Boxes, Marble Pyramid and trip to the ER!

Wow...what a weekend! We are getting settled into a semi-routine in Boise and are having such fun catching up with old friends!! Kids spent most of the weekend playing with friends, enjoying the warm-ish weather and just plain having fun! Here are some highlights...

Alexis and her good friend Maddy found a cardboard box (imagine THAT!) in our garage and decided to make some valentine boxes. After a couple of HOURS in her room they emerged with these...

I think they are fabulous! I wish I had 1/8 of the creativity that Alexis has. She constantly amazes me. The girls also wanted me to take a closeup picture of their matching socks "just in case I wanted to blog them" :) So here they are in all their glory..



Ethan had an assignment from school this weekend to take 100 of any item (anything!)and display it in a "unique" way to celebrate the 100th day of school. Thanks to a great idea from Grandpa Henze he decided to take 100 marbles and make a pyramid! He was so excited to work on it with Dad - and it turned out really well!



Brylee's weekend news isn't as much fun though. She got a bit of cold (which wasn't a big deal) until she decided that she no longer wanted to eat or drink. Saturday evening to Sunday morning she decided not to drink ANYTHING and so we headed to the ER. After poking, prodding and a blood draw, they determined she was dehydrated and needed an IV. She was not happy about it, but was a pretty good sport overall considering. She got quite a bit of fluids pumped back into her and is feeling pretty good right now. She isn't too thrilled about eating still so we are keeping a close watch on her. Poor little girl. Funny thing is - she doesn't act sick at all. We'll see what this week brings! I didn't get any pics at the ER because it was the last thing on my mind :( I am such a wimp when it comes to my kids being sick or in pain.

Wrapped up Sunday evening watching the Superbowl with some friends and eating, eating, eating!! As everyone knows, I love a good chance to eat junky food. Too bad the Saints won though - oh well!

Staying home

Ethan asked me if I was going to "sign up" for work again in Boise. When I told him no, he was SO excited! I think this whole time he has been thinking I would be going back to work. I guess I had fooled myself when I worked part-time that it really didn't affect them too much. They are SO excited to have me home with them - makes me feel honored and a bit nervous!!

There are days when I miss my job terribly and when I drive by St. Luke's now it makes me just a touch sad...but I wouldn't trade being home with my kids now for ANYTHING. So happy to get to share this time with them while they are still "small."

Total sidenote: I had a big cry this morning about missing Ohio. I knew it was coming. I can't believe how attached I became. It was great seeing everyone at the K11 ward yesterday, but I couldn't help but think of my friends 2,000 miles away and wishing I could see them. I even missed playing the piano in primary! My heart is definitely in two places right now. Can't wait for the kids to get busy in school and sports and such again....then I imagine it will start to feel more like home!
