Another reason I adore Alexis...

So I'm cleaning up the house this morning as a result of the usual "get ready for school tornado" and I went to put something in Alexis' room and notice she had posted a sign on the door.

Now....most (almost) 9-yr old girls have posters of Justin Bieber or Jonas Brothers or whatever young boy of the moment...but no, not my Alexis!! This is what she chooses to post :)





I love her! I love that she LOVES to read! The girl can literally spend hours a day in her room reading. I asked her about why she put it up and she said "I read it in Inkheart and thought it was such a great quote I had to put it up."

Keep devouring those books Alexis!!

GO BSU BRONCOS!!

Ok so living in Boise for 10 years (minus the little trip to Ohio) we have become BSU football fans. Really...how can you not in Boise? This town is obsessed with college football and BSU 3rd ranking doesn't help the situation!

Anywho Friday afternoon I got a call from St. Luke's that I had won tickets to the BSU home opener Saturday vs. Oregon State. Of course, I got to bring along my man with me!!


Part of the deal of the tickets was that I had to take some pics to send to St. Luke's marketing for their employee newsletter. We had a blast! It is always so much fun to get to spend a little time with my man, sans children (thanks Randall daycare!)





We really hope to get to the final game of the season as well (it is vs. USU) and you better believe we will be wearing our TRUE AGGIE BLUE!!

9-1-1

Need I say more?

Ok...I probably do. I have had many people tell me that I need to blog Ethan's little "incident" for all posterity to remember, so here it goes!!

My friend Becky and I decided to walk to the local Maverick for a dose of caffeine. We brought along our kids. It was a really nice day so after buying our treats we sat outside on the picnic bench enjoying the sunshine.

This is where the BAD MOM comes into play. I will admit I was not entirely paying attention to what Ethan and his friend Jordan were doing. They were running around, riding their scooters, and then went over by a pay phone. (YES..actually the world does still have pay phones in it.)

A few minutes later we are getting ready to go and I went to gather up my kids and I noticed that Ethan was holding the pay phone and whispered "it's ringing!!" Then with VERY BIG eyes, he dropped the phone and took off.

Marching after him I asked who he had called (I knew that he didn't have a quarter on him.) He finally admitted that he had dialed the dreaded 9-1-1.

THIS MOTHER FREAKED OUT!!

"Did you really dial it?"

"Really Ethan?"

"Did anyone answer?"

"What did they say?"

Again he finally admitted that he had heard someone say "What's your emergency?" and then he hung up!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRR

So I informed Ethan that we would need to wait for the cop to show up that HE had called. Sure enough about 2 minutes later a cop car pulls up and a cop gets out and starts heading our way. You should have seen Ethan's eyes as he was walking towards! Fortunately for me (and Ethan) we got a really nice cop who talked to Ethan about how we shouldn't dial 911 unless it's an emergency, and talked to him about the boy who cried wolf. Ethan told the cop with teaful eyes that he would never EVER do it again!

When we got home Ethan sobbed in his room for about an hour proclaiming over and over that he didn't think it would really call because he hadn't put any money in. We talked about how people make mistakes and the important thing is to LEARN FROM THEM! Oddly, that's something that I needed a good reminder of myself.

I don't think my sweet little Ethan will EVER dial 911 from a phone again unless it is a true emergency!! I'm fairly confident he will never even TOUCH a payphone again.

LESSON LEARNED!! :)

Off a cliff?

In my parenting wisdom I have often asked my kids "if your friends jump off a cliff....would you?" Thinking of course that this will help illustrate the fact that they do not need to cave into peer pressure!

WELL...

Ethan responded back to me that yes, in fact, he would absolutely jump off the cliff... BUT he would also make sure that he has a parachute! Not quite sure how I feel about that answer!

At least he would be prepared? I'm mulling this one over...
